About Us
Located on Sixth Avenue at the southwest corner of West 49th Street, Adels Famous Halal Food has been operating since 1983. Adel El Nagar, the owner, emigrated to the United States from his native Egypt in 2000, following a career in sales that took him to Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and other parts of the Middle East. He started his own cart downtown, primarily serving the limousine drivers who would queue up outside the former Goldman Sachs building on Front Street in Lower Manhattan, after working on a cart close to the well-known Halal Guys on Sixth Avenue. Adel, his spouse, and their four kids reside in East Elmhurst.
